I have never been a big shopping fan, but shopping at the I Park Mall is awesome. I could spend days there.....seriously. There are bargains galore, and dollar for dollar you are getting far more quality goods than you can get on post.
They have an I MAX theater and you can reserve your seats online before you go. Currently Clash of Clans is showing and Cooper loves the game, so he posed for this shot. The theater uses the stiars in front of the mall for advertising.
I Park Mall also has a dollar store called Daiso, and you can find all those little nick knacks that you need for the house. Pots and pans on post are over priced. $30 dollars for a medium sized Teflon pan.... Mina and I were able to score several large Teflon pans that are made in Korea for under $10 each. Look for the Living area stores on the fifth floor. A single kitchen spatula can not be had for less than $5 dollars at the PX, but we found a great deal at the mall. 6 piece set of kitchen utensils for $5.
We were wandering around in the electronics section of the mall and happened upon this electronic horse...yes an electric horse. It simulates riding a horse for those who just can't seem to get one to fit in the old high rise apartment. Lowell my neighbor will roll his eyes at this one... Only $1,500.00
Kids back packs.....The PX is almost always sold out of backpacks for kids and they run from $25-45 dollars. We picked up three well made backpacks for just under $10 each! Winning...
Got a craving for Ice cream during the trip????? Ice cream cones can be had all day for fifty cents.... that's right.. fifty pennies.... Works for Cooper and Claire and easy on my wallet.....
Looking for some Lunch or Dinner while you are there? The examples look great in the front windows. These type of advertisements are an art form in Asia. I have seen many shows on TV about how they make these things look so real..... What a hook...
My personal favorite is the EMart grocery store in the basement. It is comprised of 2 floors. B1 is like a Walmart back in the states. Reasonably priced items and selection of about everything you need. B2 is where the food items are and that is my favorite attraction.
I always rush to the fresh fish area and spend about thirty minutes just taking in all the seafood items and trying to decide what I will take home today. I bought some of the red fish above to prepare this weekend. Lots of Mackerel and Flounder here too. Pretty much anything you can think of that comes out the sea can be found in the seafood area and at great prices. They even have a huge bucket of ice and plastic bags that you can put your fresh purchases in to keep them cool until you get home.
Beef and pork selections will blow your mind. I never realized there were so many choices and everything in the meat department is fresh and has never been frozen. The marbled meat is one of my favorites.
Need some noodles??? There are isles and isles of it. Everything from bland to super spicy... Do you dare to eat the super spicy? I did...
Canned Tuna is big too and it appears there may be a monopoly on that one.
If Kimichi is your thing, then you will love this section of the store. Not all things are spicy and there is such a large assortment of items that if I choose just one different one every time I go it will take a years worth of days to try them all.
Beer, beer, and more beer. I have been to EMart three times and I just found this beer isle! Weird....this place is to big......what else am I missing here?
After a great afternoon of shopping we finished the walk home by eating at a place just across the street from our home. It was a great meal, and we feasted like vikings, drank like sailors, and only paid $40 dollars in the end.
Ahhh...I love it here.....

Spam holds a special place in the hearts of Asians. During the wars service men often had canned spam either in rations or by chance and the local populations took a liking to it. The demand is so high today in some Asian countries that SPAM has set up manufacturing facilities in Asian countries. Even Okinawa as small as it has a SPAM factory. I love SPAM....It's like bacon, and makes anything taste great!
